England Euro 2008 - Whose Fault??

Yet again we are to look into the failings of the England team to qualify for a major tournament and yet again it's those terrible junior team football coaches fault for not developing our talented youngsters - according to the powers that be. I suppose it's nothing to do with the influx of foreign players at all levels in the professional game even at youth team level - are we that bad or are they that good, 'je ne sais pas' as they would say at Arsenal.

The last time we took action, under the guidance of Howard Wilkinson, the academies were born - they were going to develop young players from the age of 8 under strict guidelines and stop those nasty junior team coaches teaching them bad habits. Do academies have some part to play in our situation as they seem to trawl as many youngsters as possible at such a young age promising the world but at some point saying sorry not up to scratch - by Royal Mail of course.

Unfortunately, many of the nasty junior football team coaches have got a coaching qualification under the restructuring of the coaching awards and promotion of the Charter Standard - how can this be with our youth football supposedly in such bad health.

Yet again we are to look at how other countries do it - Holland again this time and France last crisis - perhaps we ought to look at Croatia or Russia or even Germany! What do they do that we don't??
